Restoration Forest Products hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, showcasing the company’s one of a kind sawmill to local leaders. Greater Flagstaff Chamber President & CEO, Julie Pastrick opened the event, highlighting the crucial role manufacturers like RFOR play in supporting the local economy. Among the speakers was Dr. Homer Wilkes, USDA Under Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment, who discussed RFOR’s important partnership with the Four Forest Restoration Initiative (4FRI).
RFOR harvests small diameter timber from at-risk forests to produce high-quality wooden products for consumers. The Bellemont facility, with a production capacity of 120 million board feet, is essential to forest-thinning efforts across 28,000 acres annually in the Coconino, Kaibab, Tonto, and Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. These forests collectively cover 2.4 million acres. The facility also supports the local workforce by employing approximately 200 workers in Bellemont.
